The Best 3500 Watt Portable Generators Out There

The Best 3500 Watt Portable Generators Out There?

I was looking at the 3500 W portable generators that were available and found some great competitors out there that really had a lot of features and made portability a top priority. The five generators I have listed below are some of the best 3500 W portable generators that I found online, they have the best of both worlds as far as functionality and portability.

There were times of different models to choose from, I looked at nearly 60 in total and narrowed it down to these top five. These models have great reviews and at 3500 W, can produce enough electricity to run some of the most demanding electronics. Let's take a look at what I found.

The WEN 56475 Is Up First:

The WEN 56475 4750 Watts Gas Powered Portable Electric Start Generator outputs 4750 starting watts and 3750 running watts.

With that kind of power, it would be easy to start and run various home appliances including air conditioning units, electric stoves, refrigerators and even power tools. The power it provides is good enough for emergencies, camping trips, or small job sites.

Running it at half load on a full tank would get you 11 hours of continuous power without having to refuel, just make sure the 4-gallon tank is filled.

To start the unit, there's no need to yank or pull, a simple press of the button will quickly get it started. The spark arrestor is also a good if not an essential feature if you're planning to take it with you on camping trips. It will prevent the emission of any flammable debris so you'll be worry free whenever you bring it along on campgrounds or national parks. Maintenance is made easier with the engine hour counter display so you'll know for sure if it's time to change the oil. Safeguards are also in place in case of overloading or low oil.

The WEN 56475 is EPA III and CARB compliant which makes it available for purchase on all 50 states. It is covered with a two-year warranty and even includes engine oil so all you'll need to get it started is the fuel.

Up Next, The The Champion Power Equipment 46539:

The Champion Power Equipment 46539 3500 Watt RV Ready Portable Generator with Wireless Remote Start can be started remotely from up to 80 feet away.

It is equipped with a 196cc Champion engine that has an electric start feature which means there's no need for any pulling or yanking. If you live somewhere cold, the engine has a built-in cold start technology making it effortless to start even in cold weather.

With 4000 starting watts and 3500 running watts, its enough to power your RV or a couple of essential appliances in your home in case of power outages.

If you're worried about spikes, this unit has a Volt Guard feature that will prevent overload and protect any devices from surges.

If you fill the 3.8-gallon tank and only run it at 50% load, you can get a 12-hour run time. Don't expect it to be quiet, its noise level is comparable to that of a vacuum cleaner. It's not too noisy but if you or your neighbors are highly sensitive to sound, a noise level of 68 dbA may be too much.

The Champion Power Equipment 46539 is both EPA and CARB compliant and is backed by a 3-year limited warranty. Apart from the warranty, you also get a lifetime of free technical support.

The Champion Power Equipment 100302

The Champion Power Equipment 100302 3500W Digital Hybrid RV Ready Portable Generator features an advanced digital hybrid design making it quieter and lighter compared to other Champion generators of the same power.

Weighing only 81.6 lbs and having a dimension of 20.5" x 17.9" x 17.7" makes it easy to bring along on trips or move around the house.

The 224cc engine is able to produce 3500 running watts and 4000 starting watts. This unit is able to run for an amazing 17 hours at 25% load on one full tank.

Despite the tank not being too big at 2.9 gallons, it's able to efficiently use the fuel which equates to more savings.

All the power produced by this unit is clean and consistent making it perfect even for your sensitive devices and equipment. It has a total of four outlets - 12V DC outlet, 120V 30A RV outlet, and two 120V 20A household outlets. One thing that it doesn't have though, is an electric start so you will have to yank the recoil to get it started. Also, wheel kits are sold separately, so for those who prefer pulling the weight, the wheel kit is a good add-on purchase for better mobility.

The Champion Power Equipment 100302 is EPA certified and CARB compliant. Similar to other Champion generators, this is also covered by a 3-year warranty with free lifetime technical support.

The DuroMax XP4400EH

The DuroMax XP4400EH is a portable generator that uses either gasoline or propane for maximum flexibility. Since propane is easier to store and is usually readily available in most homes, makes it a perfect option for those who prefer the maximum convenience and added peace of mind.

Running on propane also extends the generator's run time and you also end up with a cleaner generator. Of course, propane will lower both the running and starting watts but it's a good trade-off for the additional running time it provides.

You get as much as 20 hours run-time on propane vs the eight hours on gasoline.

Aside from the dual fuel capability, other features include an electric key start, an acceptable noise level of 69 dbA, and never-flat wheels already included for mobility.

California residents need to find an alternative CARB compliant generator since this one won't be available for sale in California. Also, the warranty is only for a year compared to other brands' two to three-year warranties.

And Finally, The The DuroStar DS4400...

The DuroStar DS4400 is built with a 208 cc 7HP OHV engine that's made in China but has gotten great reviews so far and is said to be comparable to other brand-name generators.

It generates 4400 starting watts and 3500 running watts. With that kind of power, you'd be able to start and run a full sized refrigerator and a sump pump.

The run-time you get from this unit is your average 8 hours at 50% load and will require 4 gallons of fuel.

Electric starting is also not available and will require a manual pull but most are able to get it started with just a single pull. With a noise level of 69 dB, it is relatively quiet for a generator.  It's a bit on the heavier side weighing 115 lbs so the only option is to push or pull which is made easier via the wheel kit.

For its price and power, it delivers a good value to consumers especially since it's also CARB compliant. The major drawback is the warranty which only spans one year, other than that, it delivers the basic features and power you need from a portable generator.
